Tips

Okay, your first problem is that you say "please don't say that I should have finished the video, because I won't do that." WRONG, the best thing you can do is follow through, otherwise you are teaching yourself to give up on your flash before you complete it, and that is a slippery slope that you will definitely slide down. The best thing you can do for yourself is just buckle down and grind through the whole thing -- learn some self discipline or don't expect to get anything good done.

Second tip: stray away from sprites. Yeah, it still counts as animation, blah blah, but what happens when you get to the point where you want to do something on your own? What if you come up with a completely amazing and original story? you are going to need the drawing skill necessary to go through with your future tasks, so you need to start drawing NOW, even if you aren't that good, it doesn't matter because practice is practice; accept where you are, and work to your best with what you've got. which leads to tipe #3: think for yourself.

Come up with your own original ideas, even if they are stupid. Maybe animate a funny situation that happened when you were hanging out with your friends, or at school -- just find a way to relate it to a broad audience and avoid jokes that are way to inside.

Most of all, just keep working, don't start slacking. If you keep working, even if you churn out a bunch of shit, eventually you will produce gold. Stand on your own two feet, and don't rely on what other people tell you to do. Don't even listen to me if what I'm saying doesn't make rational sense to you. Do what you know to be right.

Good luck in the future.

hmmm

The problem with most actionscript tutorials, like this one, is that you don't actually teach anything; the viewer does not actually learn ANYTHING about actionscript. Not to mention the lack of effort to actually make one: all you really do is rip off some other tutorial and copy/paste the actionscript.
If you actually teach actionscript rather than telling someone to copy and paste, I may be impressed, but things like this just annoy me.
No pwersonal offense to you, I am generalizing.

the script editing part comes in a flash later

Nice

Hey, I saw you lurking at the CC. Congradulations on joining the Clock Crew; hope to see you posting in a week.
Happy Clock Day, and nice submission! :D

SoccerballClock responds:

Thanks, hope to see you there :D

Wow

Rupee, that was simply amazing. Everything about it was great: it was hillarious, well animated, and very coherent. Of course all this is to be expected from you :D

RupeeClock responds:

Heh, don't flatter me.

Thanks man, I think you have a good chance of reaching clockhood too. ;)

Come on...

I was so into that animation -- I was really loving it and was completely enthralled with what was going on and then you just drop it! >:( That was seriously the worst kind of cop-out. You should really finish this -- even if it is something simple like he burns the pie or whatever and ends up throwing it out; something to give the animation some sense of closure. Jeeze, you gots talent, you should use it!

mynamewontfitin responds:

Yeah... sorry about that. Working on this Flash was getting to be unbearable and I just had to call it quits.

leetsauce

Nice job Kyle -- you really did great with this, an congradulations getting it to state! The only reason you lost points in style is because of *coughtwelvefpscough*.. =P But yeah, I think you have come a long way -- keep at it and maybe you will one day be better than Rob and me ;P.
Good luck in the future and hope to see you again soon -- Chris Hornblower.

RhymesWithBoo responds:

*Sigh*...Chris I promise to use 24 fps in all my future videos ok? Lol. Well good luck to both of you keep in touch with me.
